In 1960, Ruby Bridges made history as a 6-year-old who bravely integrated an all-white elementary school in the South, facing hostile crowds and walking forward with resilience—escorted by federal marshals—so future generations could learn in more inclusive spaces.

Today, we gather to reflect on what her story still teaches us: every student deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and safe at school. This event is more than a walk—it’s a reminder of our shared responsibility to lead with respect, practice inclusion, and choose kindness every day. As we honor Ruby’s legacy, we commit to building schools and communities where diversity is celebrated, and unity is the standard.
